Weeeeeee …
At least when you hit the bottom, there’s no where to go but up!
Do as the Turks do
This past Thursday was my first Thanksgiving ( Turkey Day) in Turkey.
However, there was no turkey. This is the first year that we didn’t have at least a piece on Thanksgiving, and this is the second Thanksgiving I didn’t spend with family (the first being my first year in Florida).
Still, I was able to skype with my family before they had their turkey meal.
That’s what it’s all really about though, isn’t it? Family, friends, and being thankful for what you have. Hubby and I decided to start some of our own Turkish/American Thanksgiving traditions!
But turkey will be making a comeback, if I have anything to say about it!
*btw, I apologize these aren’t as detailed as my usual posts, I was in a rush to get them up before it was way past Thanksgiving. Thanks for your understanding 🙂
At least, it will today!
For those who don’t know, When In Turkey (WIT) is not only the name of my blog, but the name of the comic I draw free-hand. It’s based on real events that happen in our lives…
which is why the Thanksgiving one, which brings me to 30 pages, is a few days late. Check back soon, it’ll be going live later today!
If you guys remember my post from three months ago, when we first got to Turkey, our trip from the US was anything but easy. Having missed our initial connection in Germany due to a bad weather delay in the US, we had a long layover and arrived in Turkey at 1am. What should have been a 2 “day” (including time changes) trip with an arrival at 2pm on Day 2 turned into a 3 “day”trip with a 1am arrival. And if you don’t recall, my husband is borderline phobic of planes. It went a little something like this:
Needless to say, I’m not exactly looking forward to my first visit back to the states… the best laid plans, am I right?
While in SC I am trying to reconnect/ visit with as many people as I can. Saturday I went with my old roommate back to our stomping grounds- Clemson SC! It was great seeing one of my closest work friends, who now has a baby! Even though I hadn’t seen them for several months/years, we picked up right where we left off. It is amazing how some things never change.
This comic post is a little late since we got so busy packing the last week… for those of you who don’t follow me on instagram, we left Florida yesterday morning- for the last time. We are now in South Carolina, staying with my mom, waiting on the final word regarding our delicate situation… yes, it has been a many-months-long process. Inshallah the news will be good!
As some of you remember from a few months ago, my husband and I have been in a delicate situation for some time. We were playing a bit of the waiting game for a week or two, and after that was a lot of phone tag. While we aren’t out of the woods just yet (and therefore can’t divulge any details…not even the topic of our misery), there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, based on the last thing we had to do…blaaaah it is so hard to describe without details! I can’t wait to sign on the dotted line and be able to explain everything!
Inshallah it will all be ok
